Nature
Pink sunlight hits the side of Mount Rainier, Washington, viewed from above.
Mt. Rainier, Washington.

Summary

I found my heart in the alpenglow of Mount Rainier, Washington.

I love the way that the mountains crinkle
The folds of the peaks and the canyons so angular
I want to run my fingers over them
Feel the contour of their ridges press the palm of my hand
Like reading braille
I want to read what they have to say
The stories embedded in their form
Why did you take this shape
What stopped your path, caused you to rise and fall just so
And why here
What makes this place special
I want to know
I could spend a lifetime getting to know you
Where should I begin
Should I whisper to the trees
Climb your infinite peaks
Become the wind that grazes your cheeks
Lap the water in the creeks
I’ll never know the feeling of your topography
But I can dream.
